This once-industrial building is a terrific example of adaptive reuse...It offers fabulous spaces with gorgeous interior units that are rich in universal design features
30 percent of the units are affordable
Works well as a model for mixed-income projects because the building is attractive enough to interest market-rate residents
Creative intervention allowed developers to recognize the most valuable building in a light industrial / light residential neighborhood and make the best use of it
The designers addressed universal design, visibility, accessibility
The layout of the building lent itself to this type of UD conversion quite well; and the interior design was made very attractive and contemporary looking.
The project is within walking distance of several major public transportation stops and is at the nexus of a major university and two hospitals, important considerations for its physically disabled residents.
